Job Description
Assisting the chef de partie with tasks connected to meal preparation, maintenance, logistics, safety, and cleanliness is what the commis chef position entails. Your ability to assist the kitchen’s efficiency and safety without sacrificing the calibre of the meals provided will determine your success in this position.
- Observes the cooking apparatus and alert supervisors to any problems.
- Continually expands culinary expertise to deliver meals of the highest calibre
- Prepares food components, sauces, and seasonings by measuring, mixing, and preparing
- Cuts, washes, and chops fruit, meat, and vegetables.
- Evaluates inventory and make replenishment requests as necessary
- Plates food items under the direction of the chef de partie.
- Disposes of expired food and complies with sanitation regulations
Skills and Qualifications
- A high school diploma or its equivalent
- desirable are further culinary arts certifications
- 1-2 years of experience working in a comparable position
- Excellent knowledge of food, health, and safety laws
- Superior communication abilities
- Knowledge about computers
- Able to lift large objects
- Capable of working weekends and holidays
